Kristin Marie Diotte is currently the Director of Strategic Home Initiatives with NYS Homes & Community Renewal. With a background in Architecture and former Director of Development & Planning for the City of Schenectady, her professional focus has been on redevelopment in upstate New York. Design projects involve historic preservation, streetscape planning, community engagement, flood mitigation, housing and riverfront development. She is the founder of OpRail, an initiative to revive Schenectady's railway underpasses into dynamic public assets. Kristin received her degree in Architecture from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, studied abroad in Italy, China, Peru and Cuba and is a practicing percussionist. She was also on the design/fabrication team for Blindfield: A Soundscape Installation deployed at EMPAC. She’s served on the Board of Directors for the Capital Region Land Bank, Homeless Services Planning Board, Capital District Transportation Planning Committee and Contemporary Artists Center. Her passion is in community-based design and resiliency planning for shared futures. In 2015, she co-founded Post-Design and is dedicated to the layering of these practices.
